Welcoming David Lamb to SLX Group

Over the last few weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming David Lamb to SLX Group, where he takes on the role of Business Development Manager for Northern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent. Within these territories David will be representing both Simplex Turbulo’s and STW Engineering’s product lines. 

Prior to officially starting in October, David has already been collaborating with us for a few weeks. He joined our sales representatives in Hamburg during SMM, the international leading show in the maritime industry that took place in early September, and he started visiting customers in the Netherlands, Denmark and Norway. On top of the whole of Scandinavia and the Netherlands, David supports our customers in the Middle East, Central Asia and the Indian Subcontinent. 

David brings to our company a wealth of experience in the maritime sector mainly from the vessel-owning side of the industry, having worked in vessel operations, vessel sales and offshore services for nearly 35 years. After a few years working in the upstream Oil & Gas sector, David wanted to return to the maritime industry and explore new challenges in business development. 

Demonstrating a personable character and showing eagerness to get up to speed with our system and product ranges, David was able to fit into our sales team and work with our customer service team quickly and efficiently. We are grateful that he found in SLX Group the right balance of office work and travelling abroad, honing his skills and learning about new products, introducing his connections and embracing the company culture we are creating together.

Brazil trips for Nicolás

In April, our Business Representative Nicolás Rodríguez Castro took over the responsibility for our customers in Latin America. Nicolás has been working with us as our business representative in Spain and Portugal since 2016, successfully supporting our customers in the Iberian Peninsula and establishing strong relationships with colleagues overseas across our group.

Nicolás’s initial focus was to provide a seamless transition for customers in Brazil, when a handover became necessary. Thanks not only to his fluent Portuguese, but also to his refined professionalism and affable character, Nicolás achieved the full trust of our customers and enabled the continuity of service since his first visit. 

He recently returned from his second trip visiting customers in Brazil, where he also took the opportunity to explore Rio Oil & Gas, the leading energy exhibition taking place in Rio de Janeiro. Nicolás had very positive feedback about the event and the interesting conversations he had there, so is looking forward to attending again in 2026.

On the way back from Istanbul is our Business Development Manager, Jon Sargeant, who visited Europort, an important regional event in the maritime industry connecting international shipping companies, shipbuilders, equipment and service suppliers. Jon also visited several loyal customers in the area, reinforcing existing connections and exploring future opportunities with them.

Assisting David, Nicolás and Jon with customer interactions, quoting and order fulfilment, is Mariana La Rocca, who can be contacted directly for any enquiries relevant for their territories (mlarocca@simplexturbulo.com). Mariana also supports customers in East Asia and Southeast Asia for our CEO Justin Brooking.

Similarly to Mariana, Paige Bayliss has recently started supporting Ben Southwick, our Business Development Manager for the UK and Ireland, with customers relations on top of her role in the order fulfilment team (pbayliss@simplexturbulo.com).
